We are so proud to be offering FREE after school programs this upcoming school year!

Throughout the 2024/2025 school year, we will be hosting FREE Self Defense & Anti-Bullying after school programs in FOUR different schools throughout Grand Traverse and Leelanau Counties.

These programs are open to anyone ages 8-18 and is a safe environment to learn different skills needed to build confidence, decision making and respect!

Reaching this goal would provide much needed equipment & sanitation supplies for our trips out to these communities to work with these kids at no cost to them. Our coaches bring out all safety equipment and sanitize it between sessions to reduce the risk of germs spreading.

We have partnered with Significant Strikes to provide FREE monthly training to our active duty officers throughout the region!

In addition to their LEO training, we cover different scenarios that are specific to this region as well as practice training in controlled, but high pressure situations. Understanding the force necessary as well as being confident in your own ability is invaluable in this line of work.

Our coaches work with and without props to help give advice in any situation, and are available throughout the class to walk around and answer any questions.

Funding will be used to continue to provide this EVERY MONTH at NO COST to our active duty officers!

NEW PROGRAM ALERT

GTCE & Significant Strikes has partnered with Project Feed the Kids to provide after school meals to At Risk Youth!

Significant Strikes has partnered with the Grand Traverse County Juvenile Court/Family Division to provide mentorship to these young people through learning Martial Arts and Combat Sports! They are hosted twice a week, after school, and provided with a meal, equipment, access to the entire facility, coaching, and the opportunity to build good relationships while learning a great skill!

We are so excited to be able to provide an opportunity for kids to set worries aside, whether its food insecurity or life insecurity; we build their confidence and expose them to a great community that respects hard work, professionalism, and giving back.

Looking forward to making a positive change in this community, starting with our youth!

We have seen a HUGE need for women only self defense classes being brought to schools throughout Northern Michigan. We have visited multiple schools, putting on programs as funding allows. These seminars are taught by women and cover realistic situations and options for everyone.

Reaching this goal will help us travel to communities throughout the region teaching young ladies confidence, self defense, and useful skills to help them in the real world!

These seminars are great for anyone ages Middle School up through adulthood!

Our coaches travel monthly to work with youth on different Boxing techniques and talk with them about the importance of Mental & Physical Health and how to use Martial Arts as a safe outlet. 

Cadillac Boxing Club (Never Down for the Count Youth Services) gets kids in the gym and prepares them for amateur boxing fights! They are donating a huge portion of this funding by providing us with a space and equipment. Help us get the rest of the way there!

In smaller, more remote communities, there is a lack of Martial Art & Combat Sport options for kids in school.

Outside of school sports, kids have very limited options for mental and physical growth through athletics. Even with school sports as an option, families often have financial and schedule constraints which forces kids to miss out on, not only exercise, but also team building, comradary, and sportsmanship.

Programs like these, which are no cost to students, and brought to their schools/communities, give students an opportunity to learn Martial Arts and gain all of the benefits that come along with it, as well as have a consistent, constructive outlet for their mental and physical health.

When habits are taught at a young age, it instills routine. Learning Martial Arts & Combat Sports forms a routine of physical and mental health care. If consistent, the respect, discipline, awareness, & control, towards themselves and others, are habits and routines they will carry with them for the rest of their lives, whether they continue to train long term or not.

Martial Arts & Combat Sports has been a long time anti-bullying tool, and more recently has become recognized as a positive mental health outlet, which we are hoping to bring to more remote communities throughout our region.

This program is taught by SafeSport, USA Boxing, and CPR certified instructors. Our Coaches have real life fight experience, and have competed in a multitude of different Martial Arts and Combat Sports. We have male & female coaches, and will have 2-4 coaches at each seminar, to ensure the kids get enough direction.

Our goal is to visit (3) different schools, monthly, in our 5 county region, throughout the upcoming school year. This program is currently for grades 6-8, but if we are able to meet our goal, we are hoping to expand the program to younger AND older students!

If we hit our fundraising goal, of $4800, we will be able to purchase needed equipment, and Coaches pay for the entire 2022-2023 school year.

Significant Strikes Boxing & MMA has proudly pledged the additional $1100 to complete program funding.

We have a large number of athletes that have an interest in competing, but many are deterred by not only the long distance travel, but also the rising costs associated with it. Fees associated with competing can include physicals, bloodwork, licencing, registration, uniforms as well as travel, meals and hotels - which are all on the athletes shoulders. One competition can end up costing hundreds of dollars, whether you win lose or draw.

Competition is such an important part of Combat Sports and Martial Arts. It teaches you lessons that can't be taught anywhere else other than in front of a crowd of your coaches , peers, and even strangers. It is a safe, life changing experience that they will carry with them forever.

Competing builds confidence, respect and communication skills while staying active and surrounding yourself with a community that also has goals and the work ethic to get them there.

Whether you're currently a competitor, used to be a competitor, or have ever wanted to compete in anything, you understand what kind of difference this will make for these athletes. It takes the financial burden off of their shoulders and allows them to have an experience of putting themselves out there to really see what they're capable of.
