Nonprofit GSD Bio is democratizing vaccine production to prevent epidemics, using the same lactic acid bacteria from cultured foods. The new platform we have developed is called the Simple Epidemic-Ending Defense (SEED) system. It uses the power of biology for good, designed for access and to minimize the system vulnerabilities that can leave us in harm's way. We are community-driven and committed to helping address One Health (the intertwined health of all life in our shared environment) challenges at the local level, where the greatest needs are.

We all need better tools to empower us to protect our health. Your support will build these tools. Our work has already produced prototypes that we will move to testing, against coronaviruses and highly pathogenic avian influenza virus. Joining us with your DAF-directed funds will enable this next step toward beneficial impact and to grow the library of SEED prototypes.

Our focus is on providing a practical solution to enable universal public access to safe mucosal immunization against infectious diseases. We're a team of tenacious and resourceful problem-solvers; biologists and citizens working on simple solutions for epidemic prevention.

The development of a safe, stable, and low-cost protein vaccine system that can be produced where needed as a powerful One Health tool. The existential and linked threat to global wildlife and human populations from infectious disease is growing. Our approach leverages the tremendous power of biology to mitigate risk to vulnerable animals and prevent spillover to humans.

Together with One Health researchers and caregivers, we will work to stop epidemics before they start.
