GAA Needs A Dog Truck
Greyhound Angels Adoption has always taken the time to bring our retired racing greyhounds to Our Village with our own transport. We started with a little six-hole trailer being pulled by a van and then moved to a six-hole dog truck. On December 14th on the way to pick up 12 newly retired racers, our dog truck died. We took it to our mechanic who gave us the bad news. Our engine was done. We were crushed, but we must move forward.

We have an opportunity to purchase a new (to us) dog truck. It is a Chevy Silverado 3500 diesel, 8-hole truck with two air conditioners for the dogs. The previous owner took meticulous care of it, and it is ready to make our long trips to West Virginia and Kansas along with small trips to our vet.

We have $2,000 towards the cost of the truck from private donations; however, we need to raise the rest of the money.

We know that it is the Holidays and money is always tight, but we need this truck to continue to do what we do. If you have adopted a West Virginia greyhound, they joined Our Village because of our dog truck. Please help us bring the same joy you feel for your greyhound(s) to many other families.

Surgery for Vegas and Audey
Vegas and Audey were both bred to race. While growing up on their farm, they ran into each other and both broke their leg. Their owners took them to the vet in Abilene, Kansas. They had a plate, screws and a rod put in their legs. They took their time healing on their farm after surgery. Then both of them joined Our Village to find a retirement home.

Unfortunately both Vegas and Audey’s hardware have migrated. Vegas’s rod has pierced through his skin. He had to go to Red Bank Animal Hospital to be evaluated. They confirmed that he must have his hardware removed. Surgery is scheduled for Friday. Upon inspection of his brother Audey, it has been determined that he too has to have his hardware removed due to migration.

The estimate for this surgery is $4,000.00. We have to times this estimate by 2. We are looking at a total of $8,000.00. This GoFundMe will go to the cost of both boys surgery.

Please give whatever you can and share this so we can help them get to a couch.

Dog Truck And Hauling Fees
Greyhound Angels has been hauling a majority of the greyhounds that join Our Village for years. We recently purchased a dog truck and did some work on it to get it on the road. It has made trips to West Virginia and now we are taking it to Kansas to pick up newly retired racers. When we brought it into the shop to have it serviced before we hit the road, we were told that we needed to replace her ball joints and her shocks. The total cost is $1,500.00.

We also have an outstanding hauling bill for the transport of greyhounds from Florida of $500.00. We didn't know or ask if there was a charge for this haul, but we still need to pay it.

We need our truck on the road so that we will not have to pay haulers and save that expense. Any help you can offer is greytly appreciated and it keeps us moving the dogs.
