Grosse Ile Lighthouse Preservation
The Grosse Ile Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) Charity, and the Endowment Committee are in need of funds for emergency repairs and preservation of the 113 year old Grosse Ile Lighthouse.
Who owns the Lighthouse? Grosse Ile Township.
Who Manages the Maintenance? The Grosse Ile Historical Society.
Who currently funds the money for Preservation? Donations to the
Lighthouse Endowment Committee Fund
What would we spend the money on? Current items would include but are not limited to:
- Emergency repairs for current ice damage
- Proactive measures to prevent future ice damage (example: Ice shields)
- The Lighthouse desperately needs to be painted in 2019
- New railing
- Repair existing water damage inside and out
- Repair windows and doors to prevent future water damage
- Restore the integrity of the seawall
The use of funds will be overseen by the Lighthouse Endowment Committee. We are reaching out to you for help with our cause.
