Grossmont Guitar Student Recording Equipment
Your donation can change a life!
The Grossmont guitar students learn to play their instruments as well as write songs. The school has checked them out a guitar after receiving over 275 used guitars from the community. I have driven over 3000 miles around San Diego meeting the amazing donors and hearing their stories. Some donated the guitars of now deceased loved ones, one woman was in the end stages of cancer, others said how they wished that they had the opportunity to learn music when they were in high school. Now we would like the kids to be able to record their songs. We are in need of headphones and recording equipment.
Recording student songs will allow them to document their progress. In addition it will give them a lasting memory of their accomplishments. They will learn how the recording process works, and gain valuable insights into a potential job or career opportunity.
In years past many students have expressed interest in recording themselves .
Currently there are no funds to provide for this valuable and rewarding endeavor. If funded, this project will nurture a songwriting and guitar playing community for the over 135 students already enrolled in the program.
The goal is that each student take home a six track recorder and headphones. The songs would be able to be overdubbed with solos, bass parts, vocals, or any other instrument that they would like to add. The songs could then be uploaded onto the internet, sent to friends and family, and shared with other like minded students.
In addition a songwriting contest will take place and a compilation CD will be assembled.
