Guru Granth Sahib Foundation

The Gurdwara Sahib or Sikh Temple is located in the underserved community of Hayward, California. It has been a Gurdwara since 1992, prior to that it was the Trinity Episcopal Church. This building was built over 150 years ago.

The building has undergone some renovations over the years with donations from the beautiful congregation or sangat, as they come in.

However, without a major fundraising effort we will never see the Gurdwara construction completed. Therefore we kindly ask for your help in accomplishing this monumental task.

This Gurdwara has always helped the community, from interfaith events, to fundraising for all groups in need, from refugees to the homeless. There have been food drives, blanket collections, and free medical clinics onsite. The doors are always open to anyone in need, with a free open kitchen daily, bathrooms, showers, and a place to sleep. Over the years, community service has been at the forefront of this Gurdwara's efforts, and the construction has taken a back seat.

We are presenting you a full scale plan to undertake all aspects of the construction at once with completion anticipated in 18 months. We are a team of professionals, from City Planners to Construction Managers donating our time and services to this effort. We are removing the politics from the construction, and purely trying to give our Guru Granth Sahib - our 11th Guru - the home it deserves.

We are meeting with City of Hayward Planning and Building staff members and anticipate all building permits in hand by December 2021 for the exterior and March 2022 for the interior. We have sub-contractors and vendors joining our community service efforts by donating their time and material as well.
