There is a monastery in the northern part of Ethiopia named after Saint Abba Samuel, who was a monk in the 15th century. This Monastery, Hamere Birhan St. Abba Samuel Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo is named after him to commemorate and receive blessing. Additionally, this name change was suggested by the bishop of our region Abune Fanuel. Formerly, it was registered as, “Hamere Berhan Bisrate Gebreal Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo (EOT) Monastery.”

Mission and Goals

The mission of Hamere Birhan St. Abba Samuel EOT Monastery is to serve Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Christians, mainly to cultivate the next generation in order to inherit the church. The establishment of this monastery is to expand Abinnet School which teaches liturgy, poetry, hymns, and other bible studies. Abinnet School is designed to help the congregations, especially Tewahedo children and youth, to grow spiritually and strengthen their faith, ultimately, creating a generation that will keep the religion, its identity and inherit the church.

Cost and Fundraising

By the grace of God, the monastery/Land is in the process of being purchased. It comprises of 50,000± square feet of building space in a campus style setting and is situated on 116± acres of land located in Zuni, Virginia (5351 Presbyterian Drive, Zuni, VA 23898). The property  was originally being offered at $2,200,000.00, but cureently the seller set the price to $1,500,000.00 and we are asked to raise and prepare the requested amount before July, 30th 2018. If 150,000 of you people living in U.S and other parts of the world each donate as little as $10 dollars (150,000x$10 = $1,500,000.00), the property can be purchased. Moreover, this mission will not be possible without your support. Please help us fervently donate in any way you can and spread the word, so our longtime dream can be fulfilled.

ገዳሙን እናስተዋወቅ

ቅዱስ አባ ሳሙኤል በአስራ አምስተኛው መቶ ክፍለ ዘመን መጀመሪያ የነበረ ጻድቅ መናኝ መነኩሴ ሲሆን በዚሁ ቅዱስ የእግዚአብሔር ሰው ሥም የተሠየመው ገዳም በኢትዮጵያ በሰሜኑ ክፍል ይገኛል። እኛም የጻድቁን በረከት ለመቀበል እንድንችል እንዲሁም ከሀገረ ስብከቱ ዋና ሊቀ ጳጳስ በተሰጠን አስተያየት መሠረት የገዳማችን መጠሪያ የሐመረ ብርሃን ቅዱስ አባ ሳሙኤል ዘዋልድባ የኢትዮጵያ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ ገዳም ሆኗል።

የተመሠረተበት ዓላማ

የሐመረ ብርሃን ቅዱስ አባ ሳሙኤል ዘዋልድባ የኢትዮጵያ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ ገዳም የተመሠረተበት ዋና አላማ ምእመናንን በተለይ ታዳጊ ህጻናት እና ወጣት የተዋሕዶ ልጆችን በምግባር እና በሃይማኖት ኮትኩቶ በፈሪሃ እግዚአብሔር ለማሳደግ የሚያስችለውን የአብነት ት/ቤት ለማስፋፋት፣ ተምሮ የማስተማር እንቅስቃሴን ለማጎልበት፣ በአጠቃላይ ቤተ ክርስቲያንን የሚረከብ፤ ሃይማኖቱንና ማንነቱን የተቀበለ ትውልድ ለማፍራት ነው። ገዳሙን እውን ለማድረግ የሚያስፈልግ ድጋፍ እግዚአብሔር ፈቅዶ በዙኒ ቨርጂንያ (5351 Presbyterian Drive, Zuni, VA 23898) ወደ 116± ኤከር የሚሸፍን መሬት ከ50,000 ስኮር ፊት ያለው ህንጻ ጋር ለመግዛት በሂደት ላይ ነን። ቦታው የሚጠይቀው ዋጋ $1,500,000 /ሁለት ሚሊየን ሁለት መቶ ሺህ/ ሲሆን ቦታውን ሙል ለሙሉ የግላችን ለማድረግ ይህን ገንዘብ በሦስት ወር ጊዜ ውስጥ (ከ07/30/2018 በፊት) ገቢ ማድረግ ይኖርብናል። በመሆኑም በዚህ በሰሜን አሜሪካ እና በመላው ዓለም የምትኖሩ ክርስቲያኖች ሁሉ እግዚአብሔር ከሰጣችሁ ላይ የምትችሉትን እንድትለግሱ እያሳሰብን በተለይ 150,000 (አንድ መቶ ሃምሳ ሺህ) ምእመናን እና ምእመናት $10 ገንዘብ ድጋፍ ብታደርጉልን ያለጥርጥር ይህን ቦታ በእጃችን ማስገባት እንችላለን።
