Harlem River Community Rowing

Harlem River Community Rowing (HRCR) is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization committed to offering affordable rowing and expanding waterfront access options for all adult New Yorkers. Founded in 2006 by a small group of volunteers who believed that rowing in New York should be accessible and fun, HRCR offers quality, no-cost programs from Learn to Row classes to recreational and advanced rowing opportunities, to all adults 18 years of age and older in the New York metro area. We are committed to expanding diversity in the sport of rowing, in New York City and beyond.

Rowing with HRCR is free only through the generous donations that support it. Given our great success in 2023, Rowing for More in 2024 donations will help to expand our programming and make rowing available for more people in our community. We’re looking to raise $15,000 this spring season to support essential HRCR operations, including:

-Purchasing a second coach’s launch, motor, and safety equipment (so we can get more boats on the water simultaneously);

-Funds for additional coaching time; and

-Buying a three-level boat rack to make room for our shells that have been off-site since COVID.

Together, these investments will help us get even more rowers out on the water, with no charge to participants. Not sure how much to give? Each session costs about $15 per rower, but we’re committed to ensuring that anyone who wants to row can row, whatever their ability to contribute.
