Helping Kids Round First is fundraising
Dream of first international tournament
Nicaragua is baseball crazy. Even in the poorest of communities, one can find a baseball field. Every Sunday, communities gather to play; it's the break in their hard week. The problem is — games are still played in many places with large branches and rocks.
Helping Kids Round First has been working to bring donated baseball equipment to Nicaragua since 2009. The difference it has been making in community after community is hard to describe, not only for the children playing but also for the communities in which they live.
One of the teams and programs that our organization supports, The Dreamers, now has the chance of a lifetime: to attend the RBI World Series in Puerto Rico July 14-17. The rising cost of travel expenses however, have been far more than our organization had set aside.
We'd like to do all we can to give these kids — from one of the poorest nations in the world — the trip of a lifetime, and one that they've worked so hard for. Any funds raised will go directly toward covering the team's travel expenses.
A little more about the tournament: The RBI World Series is the international championship tournament of the RBI program, the MLB youth initiative designed to provide young people from underserved and diverse communities the opportunity to play baseball and softball at a competitive level.
Our organization and the team, boys aged 13-15, are grateful for any support you may give. For more on The Dreamers or Helping Kids Round First, please visit https://www.helpingkidsroundfirst.org.
