Rachel's Run for Hilinski's Hope
Running a Marathon for Hilinksi's Hope!!

I will be running a marathon on (TBA due to injury) in support of the non profit organization, Hilinksi's Hope.

Hilinski's Hope was founded by Mark & Kym Hilinski to honor the life of their son Tyler who died by suicide on January 16, 2018. Tyler was a Division-1 QB @ Washington State University & his death was a shock to all who knew him as he showed no visible signs of depression & must have been suffering in silence. The mission of H3H is to educate, advocate & remove the stigma associated with mental illness while funding programs that provide student-athletes the tools to support their mental health & wellness.

Being a Collegiate Athlete this cause is near to my heart. In the sport of cheerleading, mental health is something that exists but not heavily discussed. I've personally see it play a role in some of my teammate's lives and my own. Even if something doesn't seem that big in the moment it can turn into something big before you know it. There is more of it in all sports, and that just breaks my heart. Mental Health is something I'm super passionate about and have seen it's effects on others throughout my life in multiple ways. All I want is to help, give back, and raise awareness in anyway I can!

So donating, sharing this post, or just being a friend to someone you don't normally hang out with would mean the world. The smallest things , the baby steps, lead to the biggest impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.

FIJI Icelander is a week long event hosted by Phi Gamma Delta at Washington State University. All proceeds are donated directly to the Hilinski’s Hope Foundation. What is Icelander? FIJI Icelander is a week-long competition for sororities on our campus, with the grand prize being crowned the Icelander Princess and getting a spot on our next composite! The week will have events ranging from obstacle courses to skits/talent shows. At the end of the week we will be hosting a charity concert featuring ARTY! What is the Hilinski’s Hope Foundation? The Hilinski’s Hope Foundation is a non profit foundation whose mission is to fund the necessary support programs that will help destigmatize mental illness. The Event Week will be from September 29th - October 5th. Thank you for your support!

Hilinski's Hope Foundation
Our fraternity, the Sigma chapter of Pi Kappa Phi at the University of South Carolina, is attempting to raise $5000 for the Hilinski’s Hope Foundation. This is in honor of USC’s new quarterback Ryan Hilinski’s older brother Tyler. Tyler took his own life last year in January due to mental illness that was caused by CTE, which they later found out he had after his death. CTE is an illness that is most commonly found in football players from repeated blows to the head. The Hilinski family was devastated but wouldn’t let this tragic event bring them down. Instead, they decided to start a foundation called Hilinski’s Hope. The Hilinski’s have created this non-profit foundation with the goal of keeping Tyler’s memory alive and generating the funding necessary to support programs that will help destigmatize mental illness. They will provide the funding and practical tools for schools with student athletes to implement the changes necessary to bring parity to mental health in line with all other illnesses and injuries that student athletes face. The Foundation has done a fantastic job of educating, advocating, and removing the stigma associated with mental illness. Please join us in reaching our goal for Hilinski’s Hope while spreading awareness around the USC campus and the city of Columbia. We believe this is a great welcome to Columbia for the Hilinski family who moved here from California over winter break. Furthermore, the Pi Kappa Phi Sigma Chapter pledges to match every donation raised through this GoFundMe campaign. So for every dollar donated, Hilinski’s Hope will receive double that!
