About Historical Society of Baltimore County

The Historical Society of Baltimore County collects, preserves and interprets the rich history of Baltimore County for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations. We are stewards of some 9,000 artifacts, 8,000 photographs, a 4,000-volume library, 1,000 maps and atlases, and hundreds of archival collections. We host presentations and workshops, produce publications, tour, and exhibits, and offer weekly hours at our library for researchers to explore their ancestry, historic properties, community life, education, and other aspects of Baltimore County history and heritage. We also partner with other like-minded organizations. We are proud to be the only organization dedicated to preserving Baltimore County history in its entirety.
