Islamorada’s Conservation and Restoration Education (I.CARE) is dedicated to incorporating efforts of local businesses, residents, and visitors in restoring and maintaining coral reef communities in Islamorada, Florida. Our mission is to increase community involvement in reef conservation through citizen science and education, coral transplantation, and continued monitoring of corals, reef fishes, and invertebrates. Our goals for these reefs are to collect data on the factors impacting coral transplant survival, increase coral cover from 3-5% ` and help restore ecological processes to these reef communities, while increasing educational outreach opportunities for members of the recreational diving community.
