Zehra suffers from a rare Tethered Spinal Cord Syndrome, that affects the Spinal Cord and causes excruciating pain, making one completely dependent on others for even the basic movements.
After undergoing years of painful and financially draining treatments, she has one last chance of getting back to normal life. An out-of-state Spinal Cord Surgery, uncovered by insurance, will cost USD 100,000. Through friends and donor organizations, $35,000 has been raised, and a final $65,000 is required to move forward with the surgery.
Your little help could take away the horrors and sleepless nights of a mother and her young girls who fear the inevitable - Permanent Paralysis.
This is her request, in her very own words....
Greetings Dear Friends and Kind-Hearted Strangers...
I’m reaching out today with a heavy heart and a desperate plea for help. I’m a single mother of two young girls, and I am in dire need of a life-saving spinal cord surgery.
I was once an independent and hardworking woman, but eight years ago, my life changed forever. One day, I was standing at a store's checkout counter while holding my baby when suddenly my legs froze, and I was struck by an unbearable, electrocuting pain that almost left me motionless. That was my first partial paralysis attack. From that moment, each day has been a painful struggle
I was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition that’s been relentlessly attacking my spinal cord, the very structure that allows us to sit, stand, walk, and live life fully. Day-to-day chores that we take for granted suddenly became an uphill task. Everyday activities that once came easily, like cooking, cleaning, laundry, or just chasing my kids in a playground, have become impossible.
Over the years, the pain and recurring paralysis attacks have worsened to the point that I am now an ambulatory wheelchair user. To date, I have survived nine painful paralysis attacks, each leaving me bedridden and dependent on others for weeks. After each attack, it takes a long time for my body to have a sensation and my legs to function again. There is always a fear of when the next paralysis attack will be and how much worse it would be to come back from.
Despite everything, I’ve never lost my will to be the best mother I can be for my children. I've had to modify everything in my life to be a loving mom and a sole caregiver to them. They are my reason to keep on fighting, to hope, and to believe that one day I can be the same active, pain-free person they only hear about but have never seen since they were born.
Unfortunately, my condition is rapidly declining, and each paralysis is adding to the irreversible spinal cord damage, without the urgently needed Tethered Spinal Cord surgery, I face the very real risk of permanent paralysis
Three years ago, an expert neurosurgeon assured me that this Tethered Spinal Cord Surgery was the only option I had, and it could give me my life back. Unfortunately, my state insurance refuses to cover this out-of-state procedure, and as someone who is legally disabled and living below the poverty line, I simply cannot afford it on my own.
My biggest adversary is TIME, which is running out fast. Whether you are a parent or not. This urgently needed surgery will help me live a life with less pain, better mobility, and the ability to raise my children with independence and dignity.
It will allow me for the first time to chase my kids in the playground just like any other mom.
It's a dream that I see each day, and can only be fulfilled with your support.
I have lived my entire life with dignity, but coming to you in this dire situation is my very last resort.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity, love, and support. *
God bless you all!
