You can help Triple Helix Robotics get to Worlds!
After a stunningly successful season, the award-winning Triple Helix Robotics team based at Menchville High School in Newport News, Virginia is heading to the FIRST Championship!
Triple Helix competes in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), an international competition in which students and adults team up together to co-investigate hard, exciting problems in science and technology. Although nominally our competition is centered around building a robot that plays a fun game, finding consistent success on the playing field (as we’ve done this season!) requires our team to emulate most qualities of a small thriving engineering firm: we must be adept project managers, have a passion for developing and documenting our institutional knowledge, and make strategic use of our resources.
This season, Triple Helix played the 2023 FRC game Charged Up and won our two district qualifier events in Blacksburg and Portsmouth, increasing the team's win streak to six regular-season tournament wins in a row over the past two years. Heading into the FIRST Chesapeake District Championship on April 5-8, 2023, Triple Helix was the #1 ranked team in the FIRST Chesapeake district of Virginia, Maryland, and DC.
This donation to Triple Helix's nonprofit sponsor Intentional Innovation Foundation, Inc. will help our robotics team reach the FIRST Championship, an international celebration in Houston, Texas featuring 600 FRC teams from around the world. Triple Helix has previously qualified for the FIRST Championship in 6 of the last 10 FRC seasons.
The honor of competing at the FIRST Championship in Houston promises to be a potentially life-changing experience for the high school student Triple Helix team members but also comes with certain daunting logistics challenges! Your support towards this experience will help us foster a passion for STEM and inspire the next generation of engineers, innovators, and leaders. Specifically, your donation will be used to defray travel expenses such as airfare, car rentals, extended hotel stays, and other costs.
