Campaign Pitch
Hello, we are the Green Streaks Of Denton, Texas. We are presenting our campaign to raise money for an issue that we are passionate about and hoping to raise awareness to others about it. Many people around the world are faced with war, hunger, sickness, and political turmoil. These conditions sometimes force those to pack up what little they have and move to a different country to start over and live a better life. The International Rescue Committee works to give refugees a solid start. The IRC removes barriers that help refugees, especially women and children, to receive help with education, safety, and healthy habits. With your support we can reach our goal of donating $200 to help change lives and help those who left everything behind to start over. Will you be the helping hand?
Campaign Launch Message
There are over 50 million refugees in the world, and guess how many are children. Half. Let that sink in.
These individuals are fleeing terrible conditions: war, famine, disease, political turmoil, etc. Refugees are forced to flee what they know. Their homes, clothing, etc all for safety. Imagine that.
I’m sure you are already thinking of ways to help. Look no further than the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The IRC works to tackle the barriers faced by all refugees, but primarily women and girls. Economic wellbeing, education, empowerment, health, and safety. Those are just some of the focuses and highlights of the IRC.
My team and I are very passionate about this cause and are looking to share this campaign. Donate if you can, but simply familiarizing yourself with this cause can make an impact.

Description/Deep Reflection
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a global humanitarian organization that steps in when people’s lives are torn apart by war, natural disasters, or violent conflict. They provide urgent support such as clean water, shelter, and emergency medical care, but their work goes way beyond that. The IRC helps people rebuild. They offer education, job training, mental health support, and long-term programs so families can start over and eventually thrive.
Right now, the world is going through a serious refugee crisis. According to UNHCR (2024), over 110 million people have been forced out of their homes because of violence, conflict, or persecution. Many of them are stuck in unstable conditions, often without even the basics like schooling, clean water, or a safe place to live. Once they try to settle in a new country, they face even more challenges such as language barriers, culture shock, and starting from scratch. That is where the IRC really makes a difference. They do not just respond to emergencies. They stay and help people actually build a life again.
This issue hits close to home for me because of my aunt, Mrs. Amina Yusuf. Years ago, she had to flee Somalia with her kids because of the violence and chaos that made everyday life unsafe. Just going to the market or sending her children to school came with real danger. Eventually, she made the heartbreaking decision to leave everything behind for the chance to keep her family safe.
They ended up in Kakuma, a refugee camp in Kenya. Life there was not easy. It was overcrowded, brutally hot, and basic services like clean water, healthcare, and education were hard to come by. But somehow, my aunt stayed strong. She made friends with other women in the camp, helped out new arrivals, and created whatever kind of stability she could for her children in the middle of all that uncertainty.
After several years, her asylum case was finally approved. She and her kids were resettled in the United States. Learning the language, figuring out the culture, and finding work was a huge adjustment. But she never gave up. With help from local organizations, she found housing, got her children in school, and worked hard to build a new life. Today, her kids are thriving, and she is still one of the strongest, most inspiring people I know.
Her story reminds me that refugees are not just numbers or news headlines. They are real people. They are parents, children, and neighbors with hopes, fears, and incredible strength. That is why organizations like the IRC matter so much. They do not just give people temporary relief. They give them the tools and support to move forward and build something better.
If you want to help, donating to the IRC can make a real difference. Your contribution can go toward job training, trauma counseling, shelter, and other services that help families start over and find stability. Even a little goes a long way toward helping someone rebuild their future.

WHY THIS MATTERS TO US (TEAM REFLECTION)
When researching the refugee crisis, we came across images of families carrying their lives in plastic bags, walking for miles in hopes of safety. One video showed a father in tears as he explained that he hadn't eaten in two days so his children could. That moment stayed with us. We couldn’t imagine having to make that kind of sacrifice.
We chose the IRC because they don’t just help refugees survive; they help them rebuild. The goal is emergency relief with a focus on long-term recovery. This connects to us because we believe in second chances and the power of community support. Reading stories of people who turn pain into purpose through IRC programs, inspired all of us.
