Supplies for Smiles is a new nonprofit organization founded by high school students from Irvine, CA. Our organization’s goal is to provide resources (school supplies, backpacks, etc.) to students who may not have such easy access. Part of our motivation to create this was from seeing the outcomes of recent events due to COVID-19 . Seeing how some were put at an academic disadvantage due to inadequate access to materials, we decided that we wanted to bring change into our community. Following the implementation of EDL, thousands of students had to put a halt on their education because they did not have the resources needed to continue their education online. We wanted to start Supplies for Smiles to raise money and provide materials to those in need. Through fundraisers, donations, and supply drives, we will help provide supplies to schools and organizations. We hope to give students of all ages a better chance at fulfilling their education, and to help fill backpacks so we can help fill minds.
