JDRF Illinois Chapter (4160)

Last summer, Tyler spent three days in the hospital and was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes (T1D). His new reality meant finger sticks, monitoring glucose, insulin shots and eventually an insulin pump, site changes, counting carbs, adjusting ratios, and sleepless nights when dealing with highs and lows. Basically, everything changed. We would like to celebrate Tyler’s first year of living with T1D by giving back to the Type 1 community. It is the absolutely best and most supportive community that we never wanted to be part of- we mean that in the most caring way. We would like to host our own virtual 200-mile walk and fundraiser for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). Here is the plan:

· The virtual walk means that you can walk from anywhere (Dallas, Chicago, San Francisco, or Australia)!

· The virtual walk will take place on July 11th and July 12th. You can walk either day or both!

· The goal is for the walks to add up to 200 miles. We would love to see 500 miles!

· Please donate what you can to JDRF through the Go Fund Me Page. Our goal is to raise $1,000 this first year.

· Let us work together to support Tyler, the T1D community, and research to find a cure!

Tyler has accomplished a lot during his first year with Type 1.  He earned straight A's in school,  got his driving license, played a ton of volleyball with is club team, SPVB (#3 in state), and made the varsity volleyball team at PEHS, all while spending time with his family and friends.
