Greetings and Salutations!
We're Meko and Milo's foster parents via Kitty Connection, and are reaching out for help with medical bills for Meko & Milo, the 2 young cats in our care.
Milo (smaller black & white almost-tuxedo-but-put-his-jacket-on-wrong) and Meko (big grey, distinguished lion) have survived a lot since being rescued by Kitty Connection from a bad home in the beginning of December. They've survived FCV, FHV, upper respiratory infections, tapeworms, mouth and nose ulcers, you name it. They've put up with countless medications, subcutaneous fluids, force feedings, eyedrops, ointments, being whisked from one vet to another, specialists, ultrasounds, eye exams, shots, bloodwork.
And they keep getting better, sometimes in leaps and bounds, sometimes enduring setbacks, and back to more vets and new medications.
Meko is dealing with ocular problems due to conjunctivitis, Herpes virus, and potentially Feline Chlamydophila. He is being treated by Dr. Willis at the VCA in Arlington. He gets lots of eyedrops, both antiviral and antibiotic. The outlook is promising, provided that we get the Herpes into, and kept in, remission.
Milo was woefully anorexic and is still struggling to eat and gain weight. His poor little belly bloats up after eating anything or drinking water. He's on Cerenia to help with nausea and inflammation in his tummy. He's no longer being syringe-fed, which is a huge improvement. He loves his special Sensitive Stomach food! He also has conjunctivitis and gets eye drops. We're waiting for his abdominal ultrasound results to see if there's anything else we should be doing for him.
They both get daily probiotics and immune boosters. If/when Milo's tummy is strong enough, they'll both be on strong broad-spectrum antibiotics to try to kick out the other diseases that they are dealing with.
All of this entails multiple vet and specialist visits and a lot of medications, plus imaging and bloodwork.
These boys are very special. They're fiercely protective of one another but also very competitive and will chase each other around the house until they're exhausted. They're super sleepers and get into the funniest positions. Meko likes waking Milo up by nibbling on his toes. Milo thinks he's a parrot sometimes, although it was a lot easier on our shoulders before his growth spurt! Meko is the decorator, pulling their beds, fleeces, every comforter, and sometimes even our sheets (yes, when we're sleeping) around the house, putting them where he wants. They both love tummy rubs and looong brushing sessions but are still wary at times.
They love LIFE, and we love them, so we're desperately trying to give them long, happy, healthy ones.
Thank you,
Marie & Mark
