EMERGENCY UPDATE ON THE MOOREHEAD RABBIT SITUATION!

As most of you know we have stepped up to try and help with a rabbit hoarding situation in Moorhead MN as much as we can. Some of a large number of rabbits have been escaping though a hole in the home owners fence, running wild in the community.

These rabbits have been exposed to opposite genders and the females could potentially be pregnant, they have fleas on top of any other not directly apparent medical issue.

They have been left to roam are not very socialized and on top of that have had neighbors dogs intentionally chasing them.

Our volunteers were able to capture three last night and another five tonight. This is on top of the 6 already captured prior.

Just as they were ready to call it a night, the homeowner made contact and agreed to surrender ALL THE REMAINING BUNNIES from his yard.

We don’t have a total head count yet, as volunteers are still trying to capture them but we guess about 20 on top of the ones we captured already. There are still some loose in the community not captured yet.

Bunnies require

-flea meds @ 15 bucks each

- hay @ 20 bucks a bale

-pellet food @10 bucks a small bag

-bedding/litter @ 6 bucks a bag

-fresh greens @ 6 bucks a small container

- spay or neuter @ anywhere from 140-300 bucks depending on the vet.

You are looking at 70-100 bucks a rabbit/ months plus vetting.

We are trying to get any other rescue with room to help out, but either way resources are needed!
