Support Ukraine's Resilient Workers: Help Provide Generators
Our partner, the Ukraine Solidarity Network ( https://www.ukrainesolidaritynetwork.us ), is raising funds for 12 portable generators for members of the Free Trade Union of Railway Workers of Ukraine (Kyiv region) and the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine (Kryvyi Rih). These brave workers, many of whom have three or more children or disabled family members, are in urgent need of support to withstand the challenges of daily life amidst wartime power shortages.
Why Generators? The UN reports that Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure have severely damaged the country’s power grid, impacting millions and creating serious humanitarian and public health risks -- https://news.un.org/en/story/2024/09/1154516 . These attacks will displace an additional half a million people, adding to the 10 million already displaced by the war. Critical systems, such as water distribution and education, have also been severely disrupted.
Our Beneficiaries – Ukraine’s Railway and Mining Heroes
- Railway Workers: Serving on the frontline of transportation, these workers keep civilians moving, ensuring essential goods and services reach millions despite the risks of rocket attacks.
