Donate to help our newest neighbors
Want to join us in making a difference in the lives of our newest neighbors? We are neighbors helping migrants and asylum-seekers on Chicago’s far north side. We’re raising money to benefit Latino Treatment Center (5413 N. Lincoln Ave.), who will use it to provide food, medical treatment and transportation, clothing, and more. Any donation will help make an impact. Thanks so much for your kindness.
As you know, there are no longer any new arrivals living at the District 20 police station. However, LTC and D20 Mutual Aid are continuing to offer support to newly arrived migrants. Our new focus is addressing unmet needs of shelter residents. This new direction comes from listening and learning: Many former residents of D20 remain in contact with the LTC staff and D20 Mutual Aid volunteers, who return occasionally for help. And word has spread; in fact, LTC and District 20 Mutual Aid have developed a word-of-mouth reputation as a friendly group who will do our best to help.
We’ve learned of many ways shelter residents could use our help, urgently. Shelter residents have reported:
- They are often not given enough bedding
- They are often hungry
- They lack coats, warm clothes and shoes
- They do not have access to vital information
On average, Latino Treatment Center sees 10-15 people and families per week, and we do our best to fill the gaps and provide them with these necessary supplies the do not receive at shelters. Any donation will help make an impact. Please click here to learn more. Thanks so much for your kindness.
