Leclaire Firefighters Association, LLC

In 2011, LeClaire Fire Department, a 100% volunteer fire department located in LeClaire, Iowa along the Mississippi River, became the proud custodian of an artifact from the World Trade Center, which was tragically destroyed in a terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.

LCFD was awarded the artifact in 2011, and is one of only two entities in Iowa which has one. It is the only artifact in Scott County. Since 2011, our 9/11 tower beam has been on display in our station's museum, visible through a picture window. The LeClaire Firefighters Association (LCFA), a 501(c)3 charity, and the membership of which consists of all active members of the LeClaire Fire Department, has been planning since 2011 an outdoor memorial where we can put the beam on permanent display for community and the public to view; a location where one can reflect on the sacrifice and tragedy of September 11.

We achieved the financial goals and planning milestones necessary to begin construction in early 2021 and broke ground in Summer 2021, but unfortunately ran into unexpected financial hardship when a number of committed donations of labor and/or materials fell through, due in large part to economic and labor factors created by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The short of it is that LCFA estimates that we need to raise $15,000 by September 11 in order to complete this memorial to the standards we planned. This is a lot of money, we understand. Any little bit helps; we would appreciate if people would share this with friends and family. As we say at LCFD... Whatever It Takes!
