More information about LGBT Business Foundation of Illinois: In 1995, Tracy Baim of Lambda Publications and Kevin Boyer of Communications Management, Inc. saw a need for a local chamber of commerce dedicated to gay and lesbian owned businesses. The LGBT Chamber of Commerce of Illinois, a 501(c)(6) charity wanted to give back to the community and formed the LGBT Business Foundation of Illinois, a 501(c)(3) charity to this end.

Today the Chamber & Foundation serves a roster of over 400 Members. These members are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) business owners, as well as allied-supportive businesses. Together they employ over 2,000 people in the Chicago area, hiring from the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities.

The work of the LGBT Business Foundation of Illinois is rooted in both policy and economic advancement for the LGBT community as a whole. A successful LGBT business community strengthens its entire community and offers positive opportunities for economic stability and sustainability to everyone. LGBT economic visibility, just like LGBT social visibility, is essential in building a diverse and inclusive society free of LGBT discrimination.
