The Lorena Borjas Legacy Van – Moving Our Community Forward
Dear Community,
With hearts full of love, pride, and determination, we turn to you once again.
For over a decade, the Colectivo Intercultural TRANSgrediendo (CITG) has been on the frontlines, uplifting and defending the lives of TransGNB people, sex workers, migrants, and QTBIPOC communities in New York City. We do this in honor of Lorena Borjas, our founder, a fierce activist, mother to many, and an unstoppable force for justice.
Lorena walked the streets of Queens offering food, HIV testing, hormones, a safe word, or simply love. Today, we continue that work supporting over 700 community members with health services, outreach, hot meals, mutual aid, and unwavering solidarity. But we need your help.
Why a Van? Why Now?
We are launching a bold campaign to buy our first outreach van—a mobile community resource that will allow us to expand Lorena’s legacy across NYC. This van will carry:
- HIV & STI testing kits
- Harm reduction and prevention supplies
- Food, hygiene, and mutual aid resources
- Love, support, and dignity
- It will be more than a vehicle.
- It will be a lifeline.
This campaign will fund:
- A reliable, accessible van
- ️Insurance, maintenance, and safety equipment
- A community-designed wrap honoring Lorena Borjas
- Ongoing supplies for street outreach
