Welcome to the Franklin High School Bands Play-a-thon! This is our annual fundraiser to support the FHS Lighting Band program.
Members of the Franklin bands will be playing continuously, 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, October 6. In addition to raising much-needed money for the band program, the Play-a-thon is a great way to build the band community.
Your donations will help with costs including:
- The all-bands trip in the spring 2024
- Purchasing sheet music: it costs nearly $100 for one set of sheet music for a single title, $350 for a set of advanced music
- Entrance fees for competitions (outside of PIL events)
- Travel costs (buses and subs for events outside of PIL)
- Pep band T-shirts for incoming freshmen / new members
- Visiting clinicians
- Student registration fees for All-State & Western International Band Clinic
- Student assistance funds for summer camps, spring trips, concert attire, accompanists, etc.
- Upgrading and adding instruments
The Franklin High School Band Program traveled to Disneyland in the spring, performing on stage and attending a clinic with recording specialists. FHS has groups and performers competing at district and state levels, and sent 12 students to the Western International Band Clinic last fall. Many students represent FHS in the the all-city honor band program, and in addition to a spring trip FHS will most likely be marching in a Rose Festival parade at the end of the school year. The bands raise school spirit at pep bands and assemblies, and help make Franklin the wonderful school it is.
HOW CAN I SUPPORT THE FRANKLIN BAND PROGRAM?
1. Donate an amount meaningful to you. Any amount helps! Our new booster group, the Lightning Band Boosters, is now registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit group, so all donations are fully tax-deductible. Our EIN is 92-0818856. Donations made through this site will go through PayPal Giving, also a 501(c)(3), so that is what will appear on your receipt.
2. If you would like to give a shout-out to the student who inspired you to donate, put their name in the comment box. All donations go to the program in general (i.e., are not credited to individual travel expenses), but it's fun to see the support!
