Lincoln High School Memorial Wall
The history of Lincoln High School is intricately connected with the history of Alachua County and Gainesville, Florida. It deals with segregation and integration, of remarkable individuals who developed the State of the Arts School. Moreover, several thousand students and teachers struggled to maintain high academic standards under difficult circumstances. Through integration, Lincoln High School was closed in mid-year of 1970.
In an effort to preserve the legacy of Lincoln High School, a school that meant so much to its community of black citizens, the Lincoln High School Alumni Association is raising funds to build a Memorial Wall. The Wall will honor its graduates from 1925-1970, by displaying the students names. The Wall will be built on the campus of what is now Lincoln Middle School.
To assist with the completion of this project, we are asking the communities of Gainesville and Alachua County to donate funds to the Lincoln High School Alumni Association.
