I can’t help but save this girl. She looks like the sister to Sophie, a pup we saved about 7 years ago from the same area. Sophie turned out to be too 10 dogs of all-time. This girl is set to die on Tuesday and if we can scrape together $300, we can have her vetted and taken to a foster. Please help! Shelters are overflowing right now.

McNeil was on the euth list because he was in such bad shape. The staff didn't want to see him go down because of his sweet nature and desire to be held. He was likely used as a bait-dog judging by the injuries he has sustained such as a missing toe, broken jaw and lacerations. LBDR offered to sponsor McNeil's vet care but no one stepped up to take him out of the shelter so in the end, McNeil came to LBDR. He is under 20lbs, emaciated from lack of eating because of the broken jaw, has a raw snout and an ulcerated eye. His surgery to wire the jaw in place went well and he is on antibiotics, pain meds and eating wet food and goat's milk. He wants to be held constantly and paws at his jaw because he is uncomfortable. He has a long way to go but we are going to make sure he gets to be the healthy and happy dog he deserves to be! We need funding to make this happen so please consider donating.

Although Amy, the founder of LBDR, is taking a sabbatical for a short time, we will continue to raise funds for emergency situations, sponsoring last chance dogs in shelters and helping those rescues in the South who have so little.


Currently, we are launching our “Pay Off the Vet!!” fundraiser to settle the bill at Ash Creek Animal Hospital where Dr. Kris, Dr. Caryl and Dr. Marcus have been treating all of the LBDR dogs upon arrival in CT and beyond. Our goal is $6,000 which will cover our bill as well as heart worm treatment for pups who need it. Your donations will go directly to paying off the Animal Hospital and helping more dogs in need!
