AYUDH Americas - 2019-20 Initiatives
AYUDH responds to the world's most pressing needs. For example, in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, we provided local shelters with essential items, hygiene products, and food.
In Costa Rica, we facilitated the distribution of school supplies, rubber boots, and clothes to the indigenous population of San Vito. These are just a few examples of the many projects members of AYUDH have completed.
WHO WE ARE
AYUDH (Amrita Youth for Unity in Diversity for Harmony, and Sanskrit for 'peace') is the youth wing of Embracing the World, a global humanitarian NGO. AYUDH aims to use the powerful force of young people to perpetuate natural harmony, social justice, and community empowerment. We work closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through our 20+ chapters across the Americas.
Help AYUDH Americas support youth from all around the globe as we come together and address the world's most pressing issues. In order to continue implementing our projects, we are asking for your help. Our initiatives focus on a range of social issues such as poverty, hunger, education, equality, and climate action.
OUR GOAL
During our yearly summit, we give youth a voice by coming together and deciding which issues we would like to pursue in the upcoming year. Together, we craft practical initiatives with locally implemented projects that create profound ripples of change and impact society on a massive scale. Please read more about our initiatives, progress, and achievements here.
The Ripple Effect is the AYUDH Americas annual Youth Summit, bringing together inspirational speakers, an international Youth Parliament, leadership & personal development workshops, hands-on projects, group discussions, games, nature walks, yoga, music, meditation & self-reflection and more.
Our theme this year is "World Peace Through Inner Peace". AYUDH is calling on individuals to harness inner strength, self-love, self- care, and awareness as necessary first steps in achieving a peaceful community. In response to growing global violence, terrorism, and environmental destruction, AYUDH hopes to focus on self-introspection as a catalyst for change.
AYUDH is unique in its focus in that we do not just work to support our communities through service or empowerment of young people. Rather we do this with a focus on love, compassion, and belief in the ultimate goodness of the world as espoused by Amma. All youth ages 13-30 are invited to join us for this monumental, life-changing experience.
