My name is Siugen Constanza and I am the director of Community Affairs and Outreach at Boys and Girls Club of Malibu Wellness Center. Recently, I was made aware of the difficult situation that the Flores family is in and immediately felt the need to assist them. This is a local family that goes to neighborhood schools in Malibu. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, both parents have lost their jobs and need assistance in paying for their living and medical expenses. Any amount that one can donate is not too small and will help the Flores family in many ways.

1 Child = one year of wellness services at Boys & Girls Club of Malibu Wellness Center

Dear Malibu Parents and Community, 

The Malibu Boys & Girls Club developed a Wellness Program which serves as the ONLY COMPLETE AND FREE TO STUDENTS COUNSELING PROGRAM. A full-time licensed Wellness Director leads our Center and we are currently providing counseling for 80 students weekly. We’re focused on helping the social and emotional needs of our children at all ages, and our programs include PROACTIVE approaches to students who may be at risk. 

Did you know that we do not have mental health counselors on staff at our schools? As a direct response to the incredibly high demand for these services in the last few years, we expanded. We now have on-site counseling available to students at EACH of the Malibu public school campuses and we launched an expanded Wellness Center at Malibu High School. 

The needs of our kids in the last handful of years have become exponentially larger than any of us could have anticipated. The escalation of bullying, access to drugs, increased competition in school, ever-present social media, and violence in our schools has caused the stress on our children to elevate significantly. We see this struggle daily.

Like many parents, leaders and youth-focused organizations, we felt the need to act immediately. And we did. We created the programs and we now need your support to sustain them. The average cost to support the Boys & Girls Club programs for each of the 1,700 students in Malibu public schools is $600.
