Support Those Who Keep Highwood Vibrant
The vast majority of these former employees likely are immigrants who can face many barriers, including limited access to health coverage.
For individuals like these former employees who may not have the ability to access all resources, Mano a Mano Family Resource Center is able to help, providing direct assistance for food and medical costs during this time of COVID-19.
Mano a Mano has been serving low income immigrants, most of them Hispanic families, since the year 2000. Most clients are newly arrived in the Lake County area, are low-income, speak little or no English, have on average a second or third grade education, lack essential prenatal care and suffer from poor health and living conditions. These families need help finding employment, learning English, and accessing the most essential services to thrive and become active members of their community.
Funds will be sent directly to Mano a Mano's PayPal account through Paypal Giving Fund, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, which will grant the monies.
Thank you to those supporting this fundraiser: Carmen Patlan (Executive Director, Highwood Public Library), Wertheimer family, Bodor family, Hospodarsky family and Marjorie Brownman Shapiro.
