Hello Citizens! It’s no secret that this pandemic has been very difficult, and a challenge to many. With over 29 million confirmed Coronavirus cases in the US alone, things still haven’t turned around for the better, especially with our elderly and vulnerable. Even with a vaccine, this doesn’t mean they are safe. Many seniors go hungry, and that's up to us to help change that. The Star Citizen community is fundraising to provide assistance, food, and comfort to over 10 million seniors who are at risk of hunger.
This is a combined effort between the /r/StarCitizen Discord, /r/StarCitizen Subreddit, Starcitizen.tools, and all participating community members, content creators, and streamers.
Meals on Wheels’ mission is to operate in every community in America through over 5000 independently run local programs. They are committed to supporting senior citizens, so that they can live healthier and more nourished lives in their own homes, while also filling a key social aspect in their lives that many are otherwise lacking. According to their reports, over 58% of home delivered meal recipients live alone, with the volunteers who bring their meals being the only person they will see that day.
Despite being federally supported, they still remain significantly underfunded. The price of meals and transportation has only gone up, while federal funding has stagnated for years. That leaves the daunting task of raising funds to donors: Citizens like us.
On average, a meal for a senior costs between $9-11 USD. If we reach our goal of 10,000 dollars, we will have provided around 1,000 seniors a meal. It is our hope that we can reach and/or surpass our goal to help as many seniors as possible in these difficult and lonely times.
The /r/StarCitizen Discord mod team will personally match donations once we reach $1,200, and turn it into $2,400! We are also hosting a sweepstakes for anyone who donates at least $5 USD. The sweepstakes will cap at two entries so it's fair for all participants. We will pick a winner at random. Summer STEM Agents' Campaign for Meals on Wheels
Hello!
We are a group of high school students from the North Carolina School of Science and Math. We launched Summer STEM Agents, a summer program for middle school and high school students, as a way to promote STEM education by offering free online courses in a number of subjects including astronomy, electrical engineering, chemistry, Python programming, and many more! We hope that our efforts to provide high-quality online instruction in these courses will instill upon members of our community our shared passion and appreciation for STEM. Especially during these difficult times, we wholeheartedly believe that this initiative - to empower young minds through learning - is one of the most valuable gifts we can give to our community.
However, we believe that Summer STEM Agents can make a positive difference in other ways too. The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in some unfortunate circumstances for many Americans. Seniors are particularly vulnerable and are one of the groups most severely affected by the virus, making it more difficult for them to get what they need. Meals on Wheels America is on the front lines every day, ensuring that older Americans are safe and well-nourished in communities across the country. This cause truly means so much to us, which is why we're raising money to benefit Meals on Wheels. Whether or not you're a student participating in Summer STEM Agents, we hope that you'll consider donating as every contribution will help make a meaningful impact!

Hi everyone!
During this time, it may be hard to just get by, much less donate to charity. It can be easy to leave helping to heath care workers and the government. Although these people are invaluable heroes in stopping the virus, anybody can help out. As a teenager, I have been worried about my grandparents, who are afraid to go and get food due to the coronavirus. I wanted to do something to help other seinors, so I started Click for Covid, a fully online charity that helps senior citizens affected by the virus. Many seniors live in fear of Covid 19, and are afraid to go to the store and shop for food. All the money you donate goes to Meals on Wheels, who will deliver food items to the elderly, thus eliminating the need to go to the grocery store. Even if you are not on the front lines fighting this pandemic, you can still make a difference. Any amount will count. Thank you so much in advance!

"We are all in this together." It’s everyone’s COVID-19 mantra. But the truth is, ‘all in this together’ looks different for each of us depending on our circumstances. For our homebound seniors, this time can be much more challenging than it is for others.
Join us on Zoom, May 15, 5:30 pm est, as we celebrate ‘Namastay Home For Others’, a mini concert and yoga class to raise money for Meals on Wheels. Vermont based singer/songwriter Zack Dupont will join us for a mini concert followed by a 45 minute Arrichion Mystery Stone yoga class taught by Lisako Koga Reynolds. Everyone is welcome.
