NEW ENGLAND LAB RESCUE Medical Fund / Urgent Labs
We are reaching out to our wonderful fans, supporters and friends so we can help Buckley who was found roaming outside the city limits of a small town in southeast Texas. It’s apparent from his condition he’s been on his own for quite some time. His fur is thin, patchy; teeth are in poor shape, several missing; and too many scars to count. But the most apparent and most upsetting is the gun shot he endured. The entrance wound is approximately two inches from his tail in close proximity to the spine. This location is a typical indicator he was shot while walking or running away. A 2cm bullet was found on X-ray in the chest near the lung outside the diaphragm. Two broken ribs were also noted. It is not in Buckley’s best interest to remove the bullet at this time.
Buckley is unable to bear full weight on his left rear leg and experiences episodes where he is unable to utilize either back leg. X-rays have revealed hip dysplasia. An ultrasound will be performed later this week.
Our handsome lug has the presence of transitional cells in the urine. It’s possible they’re related to a severe urinary tract infection. After treatment with antibiotics, we will retest the urine. If the transitional cells are still present, it’s quite possible he has a bladder tumor (transitional cell carcinoma).
Buckley is anemic. And he is heart worm positive and will require expensive treatment.
Despite being shorted in life, he remains gentle and loving. He’s respectful of and grateful for his foster home. He just can’t pass up the opportunity to wiggle his way into a lap. And is quick to flash those gorgeous eyes to help plead his case for just one more treat.
We are optimistic there’s a perfect home for Buckley when he’s healed and healthy. But until then, he’ll be spoiled, cared for, and most importantly, unconditionally loved by his Texas foster.
If we go over this goal, we have more labs needing heart worm treatments such as Reggie, Bear and others.
Your help is imperative for us to get them the medical help they need.
