Paint and Maintain the Purple People Bridge
Many do not know this, but the Purple People Bridge is privately owned and operated by the Newport Southgate Bridge Company, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
This organization receives no public funds to maintain the Purple People Bridge; however, fees generated by activities on the bridge only pay a small portion for the upkeep of the bridge, including painting, maintenance, security, trash removal, landscaping, and lighting.
The Bridge Company must raise more than $1 million dollars to repaint and maintain the bridge. This is the first phase of a larger capital campaign, which will include adding LED lighting to enhance the bridge's appearance and safety.
If you use the pedestrian-only Purple People Bridge for your commute to work, for leisure, for entertainment, or you just want to support an iconic regional landmark, we hope you will consider making a contribution. We need the community's support for the Purple People Bridge so that it can remain an exciting and unique way to cross the river!
We truly appreciate your support. To learn more about the Purple People Bridge, watch the video below, or visit our website at www.purplepeoplebridge.com
