Help Keep a Holocaust Survivor Couple Together at Home
In 2017, the North American Family Institute launched the Homecare Choices program to support seniors in living comfortably and independently in their own homes. Today, we invite you to help a truly remarkable couple who have endured unimaginable hardships as Holocaust survivors.
The money you donate goes directly to the care of Mr. and Mrs. K. The beneficiary is listed as the North American Family Institute only because that is the nonprofit behind the Homecare Choices program that provides care to Mr. and Mrs. K.
At ages 95 and 102, they exemplify resilience and love. Both lost their entire families during their youth. Mrs. K survived the Łódź ghetto and Auschwitz concentration camp, while Mr. K escaped to the Polish forest, becoming a partisan fighter before spending years in a refugee camp. They met in Boston, married, and devoted their lives to raising their children and supporting fellow survivors.
Despite facing health challenges—vision and heart issues for him, and moderate dementia for her—this devoted husband has been his wife's primary caregiver. However, following his recent surgery and hospitalization, they now require 24-hour care to remain together in their cherished home.
Homecare Choices is proud to offer them a 25% discount on care costs. While a Holocaust survivor fund provides some assistance, there is still a significant shortfall. We have set a fundraising goal of $100,000 to ensure they can continue to live together with dignity and peace of mind.
We are reaching out to compassionate supporters to help maintain their quality of life. While it’s challenging to predict how long they will need assistance, this funding goal is a thoughtful estimate based on their current needs. Every dollar donated will go directly to their care, with any surplus allocated to assist other seniors in need.
