North Bay Cancer Alliance

The challenges facing cancer patients are many, but often unseen. Ascent on Cancer honors Cancer Heroes by making their bravery visible during an 11,000 foot ascent of Mt. San Jacinto, the steepest escarpment in the continental United States. As we climb the mountain we will be stopping to read out the names of Cancer Heroes in order to acknowledge the invisible challenges these heroes have faced.

Ascent on Cancer is a fundraiser for North Bay Cancer Alliance (NBCA) in Northern California. NBCA has been providing meaningful resources to cancer patients for sixteen years by sponsoring innovative support groups and providing immediate financial assistance to those in need. This year we see an increasing number of cancer patients and their families struggling to afford basic expenses.

By providing funds for basic expenses like car fare to appointments, NBCA can make the difference between whether or not individuals receive critical treatment. A gift of $80, for example, would help cover the costs of transportation to 15 chemotherapy or radiation treatments.

In honor of all gifts, we will read the name of your Cancer Hero on our Ascent on Cancer hike this November as we climb Mt. San Jacinto. Your Cancer Hero can be anyone in your life who has been touched by cancer, it can be a healthcare worker or team who have made a difference in someone’s treatment, or in memory of someone we lost to cancer.

By helping us meet our fundrasing goal, you will be making it possible for NBCA to help 375 families in California’s north bay who are struggling with a cancer diagnosis.
