Solutions for Change was founded by Chris and Tammy Megison in 1999 and they have development an incredible model of transformation for all the homeless families that go through their 1,000 day program.
The organization is made by three main pillars. The first one is Solutions University, it is the only program of its kind in the United States. The program's goal is to create a solid foundation for a new life through parenting, leadership and emotional intelligence classes. The residents have also access to child care, counseling and job training.
The power of this pillar is the transformation that is available for all the parents that go through the program. The moment they transform, they create a new path for their children off the streets and many other generations to come.
The second pillar is Solutions Enterprise which consists of Housing, real estate initiatives and solutions farms. The program partially funds itself by owning/operating housing and real estate as well as providing affordable housing to the community and employment opportunities to the residents.
The thirds pillar is Solutions In The Community. Solutions for Change is deeply involved in all the North County communities. They purchase, rehabilitate, and operate housing throughout the region – revitalizing areas. They engage with our communities through volunteer participation in community events, which helps other nonprofits while letting the residents give in order to help others, as they have been helped!
