The North East United U16 Boys Soccer Team earned their way to Nationals!!

Our soccer journey is a true Cinderella story. The boys have defeated all circumstances to achieve great success.

The North East United U16 boys team has been together for 2-3 years, playing competitive soccer through TCSL in Minnesota. In 2021-2022, they played at a state level, had a 9-1 league record, and became Champions at multiple local tournaments.

In 2022-2023, the team was forced to play up a birth year, due to low club numbers. They managed to pull off an undefeated summer league with a 10-0 record, won multiple championships, and started their journey competing in out-of-state tournaments.

Despite their great success throughout the last two years, our team was faced with some very difficult decisions at the end of 2023. The players expressed that they desired higher level competition. Unfortunately, due to league rules, our team's only option was to go up to the regional level. We stood as one and made a team decision to play at a U16 regional level with the addition to participate in highly competitive NPL tournaments and College Showcases.

Our 2023-2024 season started off rough, as we were playing at a highly competitive level and faced several player injuries. Our boys competed against opponents from clubs that are able to offer year-round high-skill training. Despite being the underdogs, parents combined their efforts and resources to provide each player with the opportunity to participate and have the greatest experience possible. Our team participated in the Minnesota Cup, which is a state tournament playing against local premier teams. Being a small club and not having an official NPL team, we were competing against neighboring clubs that were unfamiliar with our soccer club. Throughout the tournament, the boys exhibited amazing grit and teamwork. They were proudly announced as Minnesota State Cup Champions, advancing them to Midwest Regional Finals in Illinois. Despite very little planning and funds, our team managed to travel to Illinois as the underdogs. During the Midwest Regional Finals, our U16 Boys had an incredible undefeated 5-0 record and accomplished victories that none of us could even imagine. They were awarded Champions of the Midwest Regional Finals! Our astonishing victory secured a spot in the National Cup Finals, July 18-22, in Colorado.
