Support Oakland Public School kids
Start the year with an act of kindness. I'm raising money on behalf of the Oakland Public Education Fund to support resources for Oakland Public Schools, the district where my little sister used to teach. All proceeds (goal of $1000) will go to the Fund.
The Fund uses donations for a variety of causes, including:
- Organizing community events such as Heritage Read-In weeks, Computer Science Education Week, Thank-an-Oakland-Teacher, book/ coat drives, and more
- Recruiting, training, and placing volunteers
- Awarding grants to local schools and educators
- Sponsoring over 100 schools and programs
- Launching partnerships with Salesforce and Intel to provide students with opportunities to access Computer Science courses, internships, and access to tech careers
From their website:
"The Oakland Public Education Fund is a nonprofit that leads the development of community resources in Oakland public schools so that all students can learn, grow, and thrive. We have helped raise over $200M for Oakland kids, placed 10,000 volunteers in local classrooms, and fiscally sponsored more than 150 education-related projects."
