Old Dominion Aquatic Club

On November 4th, 2022 the world suddenly lost a shining star that touched so many lives. Karen was a longtime fixture with Old Dominion Aquatic Club. She was a cherished friend, mentor, and teacher to countless ODAC swimmers, parents, coaches and many others. Karen willingly fulfilled many positions within the ODAC organization because of her deep commitment to those involved with the club. She considered them her extended family. Her devotion to swimming crossed over many lines, while coaching for ODAC she also coached local High School teams and served on positions within the Virginia Swimming LSC.

Karen retired from ODAC in 2021 and moved to Florida to be closer to her parents, but she stayed in touch with her swimmers, and of course, her dear friends from the ODAC family. Karen had great love for her family and her friends, there is nothing she wouldn't do for them. If you asked her, she would tell you her greatest accomplishment and sense of pride was raising her daughter Jordyn.

In honor of Karen’s memory and her contributions to Old Dominion Aquatics Club, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to establish the Karen Keenan Memorial Scholarship. The $1000 scholarship will be awarded yearly to the ODAC swimmer that exemplifies the traits and dedication to swimming that Karen portrayed. Let’s keep Karen’s memory and love for swimming alive and flourishing within the Old Dominion Aquatic Club family!
