About Old Fort Steuben Project
The Old Fort Steuben Project is chartered to preserve, develop, and interpret the original historic site and the cultural heritage of the Upper Ohio Valley. Located in the downtown area of Steubenville, Ohio, Old Fort Steuben offers educational opportunities to residents of all ages within the city as well as to visitors from surrounding communities. As part of the Ohio River Scenic Byway, Old Fort Steuben and the Fort Steuben Visitors Center is an important part of the tourism industry in the area. By transforming a blighted area of the city, Old Fort Steuben is inspiring much-needed community development. In the past year, the Old Fort Steuben Project took over the First Federal Land Office, an original 1801 structure that is adjacent to the Fort, an important site that fulfills our mission.
