Insects around the world are disappearing at an alarming rate. In particular, pollinator decline has the potential to have dire consequences in the very near term. Insect pollination is responsible for over $29 billion in agricultural production in the US alone. Without the essential ecological services that pollinators provide, humankind's ability to feed the growing world population will be severely impaired.

Honey Bees are intricately tied to our food supply. One-third of our diet is derived from plants that require pollination, and in the US, honey bees are responsible for 80% of agricultural pollination! If you eat food the challenges faced by honey bees are important to you. The widespread loss of honey bees in the last decade has been linked to poor nutrition, parasites, loss of foraging habitat and pesticides. Since 1921 the Oregon State Beekeepers Association (O.S.B.A.) has worked diligently to help protect pollinators through outreach, education and the funding of research.

To accomplish these goals, a strong partnership has been developed between the O.S.B.A. and Dr. Ramesh Sagili and the Oregon State University Bee Lab, a world renowned honey bee research facility, which is making strides in the areas of honey bee health and nutrition . You can make a difference by donating today and assisting us in raising research funds that will be used by Dr. Sagili to support and expand the research currently underway at the Lab as outlined in the video above.
