RESCUE MAASAI CHILDBRIDES
This Maasai woman brought her 13 year-old daughter to us in June hoping that she might go to school instead of being married in exchange for cows. She is one of 170 new girls, aged 12 - 15 years old, coming to us this year for help. She will be sold into marriage if we cannot raise these funds by December, 2024. $600 pays for one year of schooling for a girl, $50 covers her fees for one month and even $25 helps with school supplies.
Osotuwa means kindness in the Maasai language. Isaya and Nguvu, Maasai brothers in Eluai, Tanzania, began rescuing girls from childhood marriage over 8 years ago and helping them to attend school. Girls are promised and sold into marriage, sometimes before they are born. They lose any hope and dreams for their lives. The thinking of the Maasai is changing as more girls are being brought to us for school!
Osotuwa Foundation is both a US 501c3 non-profit and a Tanzanian NGO. It provides the conduit for donations and the support for the education of young Maasai girls. Without funding these girls will loose any choices for their future and will be sold into marriage. The vision of Osotuwa Foundation is to bring gender equality to the Tanzanian Maasai people. Please help to make this vision a reality for these precious young girls.
The $600/year pays for boarding school fees, uniforms, supplies, books, tutoring if needed, travel expenses and medical insurance.
