Our Time For Tech

Hello everyone! I am Arit Developer and I am the founder of Our Time For Tech (OTFT), a non-profit that empowers women to pursue and excel in Tech careers!

 

Several countries in Africa are currently experiencing a veritable Tech boom and, as a result, many people are desiring to become Tech professionals. But one of their biggest barriers is not having a reliable laptop.

 

So, I am running OTFT's first-ever fundraiser to raise money for up to 20 laptops, to empower a selected group of aspiring Tech professionals living in Nigeria and Cameroon.

Our selected beneficiaries have demonstrated that they have the grit and passion to elevate their lives through Tech. Here are some of their reasons for pursuing Tech careers:

"I want to establish myself in a stable career field, so I can avoid cycles of prolonged unemployment when economic issues arise in my country."

"I want to provide a more secure future for my children, and a Tech career is my ticket there."

"I refuse to be poor. I don't need to be filthy-rich, no, but I will certainly be able to feed, clothe and house my family 100% of the time."

We have partnered with Julic Systems Computer Services Centre in Lagos, Nigeria to supply the laptops. We have chosen the HP 14" HD AMD Ryzen 3 (Windows 10), a powerful, reliable and yet affordable machine. The specs are: 3.5GHz, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD.

Beneficiaries will be required to prove their identities with official photo documentation when they collect their laptops in person. In keeping with OTFT's commitment to full transparency, we shall update this page regularly with photos, videos and receipts as the laptops are purchased and distributed.
