More information about Out Youth Austin: Out Youth serves Central Texas LGBTQIA+ (lesbian/gay/bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning, intersex, and asexual) youth and their allies with programs and services to ensure these promising young people develop into happy, healthy, successful adults.

Founded in 1990, Out Youth has grown and changed over the years, but we’ve always retained our most important facet – providing a safe space for LGBTQ+ youth to come together, receive support, and make friends who understand who they are.

My name is Erica Sullivan and I am a swimmer at UT Austin. Throughout the month of May, GoFundMe is hosting a College Charity Challenge to show the power of giving on college campuses nationwide. I hope you'll join me in this challenge by donating to Out Youth Austin. Out Youth Austin is a 501(c)(3) who's mission is to promote the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of sexual minority youth in Central Texas so they can openly and safely explore and affirm their identities.

 

Out Youth is important to me because trans people are faced with adversity in Texas everyday. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community going to school at the University of Texas, I feel that it is my responsibility to bring attention to those who are voiceless within my queer community.

For over 30 years, Out Youth has educated the community and provided helpful trainings to offer the LGBTQ+ youth  support. Outside of advocacy, I am on the UT Austin swim team and am training for the 2024 Olympics after winning Silver in the 1500m Freestyle in 2021. I am studying Radio-Television-Film and hope to become a screenwriter/ director once my athletic career is over. I spend my free time playing guitar, reading books, watching movies, and hanging out with my girlfriend.
