Painted Rain Ranch

Painted Rain Ranch is an Animal Sanctuary and Final Refuge for unwanted companion animals founded by Karen Anderson.

We rescue the pets no one else wants and provide a loving final home to our furry residents where they live with us as part of the family.

Many pets are overlooked at the shelter due to medical issues, old age, or behavioral problems. We believe those pets deserve a chance at a good life too.

Our resident animals have extremely challenging health issues which is why no one wanted them. Some have autoimmune diseases such as painful mouth ulcers (stomatitis), diabetes, asthma, or are missing legs. Others have behavior issues and were saved from euthanasia.

Our two newest rescues are two cats we saved after 400 days in a shelter. They were taken from a hoarding situation but suffer from painful mouth ulcers from stomatitis. They had to have all their teeth extracted to help reduce future infections. They require a special diet and regular vet visits that require sedation since they are fearful of humans.

We rely on private donations to cover the high cost of proper veterinary care, prescriptions, and ongoing care.

Our residents live with us as part of the family for the rest of their natural lives on a beautiful and peaceful 30 acre ranch. There are no cages or crates.
