Parents for Pride GHS Project Graduation

Edited to add: Because of this unprecedented pandemic, our beloved GHS Class of 2020 is devastated on how their senior year is ending.  They are missing out on all of their "lasts" that they have been looking forward to and, quite frankly, have earned...Prom, Spring Sports, End-of-Year Banquets, Awards, Senior Day, Elementary Walks and the list goes on and on. Once it is deemed safe, we will be throwing these seniors the BIGGEST AND BEST celebration ever! As business donations will be at an all time low, we need our friends and family, our community, everyone to reach into their pockets and support the Class of 2020!!! 

GHS Project Graduation/Parents for Pride, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides graduates with an alcohol-free, drug-free, all night lock-in event that has been held in Georgetown for over 30 years.  Every senior is invited and encouraged to attend at no charge and participation is usually 95% of the graduating class.  The purpose of the event is to give the seniors a safe place to celebrate with their friends and classmates with tons of entertainment, food and prizes on their graduation night.

**How Project Graduation Came About**

Project Graduation began in the early 80's in Maine after 12 high school seniors died in an alcohol-related highway crash on graduation night. Seven of the 12 teenagers were from a small town, much like Georgetown. Parents in that town were devastated and determined not to let it happen again. They organized the first Project Graduation that next year. By 1985, 95% of the high schools in Maine hosted successful chemical-free parties. Before long the idea caught on nationally. The first Project Graduation held in Texas was in 1984. In 1989, Georgetown hosted its first Project Graduation Celebration and it has continued for the last 30 years. Since that time, the Project Graduation organization has built its tradition in the Georgetown community. The organization raises money and recruits volunteers to keep this tradition alive and to assure a safe and fun place for our kids on graduation night.

Preparations for the Georgetown High School Project Graduation 2018 are well under way.  Project Graduation is an alcohol-free, drug free, all night lock-in event that has been held in Georgetown for over 25 years.  Every senior is invited and encouraged to attend at no charge.  The purpose of the event is to give the seniors a safe place to celebrate with their friends and classmates with tons of entertainment, food and prizes on their graduation night.  This is made possible through an organization called Parents for Pride, Inc., a qualified 501(C)3 organization.
