The service industry relief fundraiser spearheaded by Takashima Records to now offer personal protective equipment free of charge to employees returning to work at The Grove community improvement district businesses; the initiative has raised $22k+ in two months

(ST. LOUIS; May 19, 2020)—As the pandemic situation continues changing, Good for The Grove—a service industry relief program supporting furloughed workers of St. Louis’s famous entertainment district—has remained steadfast in its mission to help the neighborhood, while being nimble and adaptable in providing vital support. The program organized by the owners of Takashima Records, sponsored by Stag Beer, and supported neighborhood nonprofit Park Central Development announces a pivot to now provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to employees returning to work in The Grove.

“As we move into the next stage of dealing with COVID-19, we felt it was imperative to find a way to help people return to work safely,” says Sean Baltzell, co-owner of Takashima Records and co-founder of Good for The Grove. “By providing PPE for the workers of The Grove area merchants group, we can also reduce business costs during reopening while ensuring the safety of our employees, as well as provide consumer confidence that our guests are returning to a clean and secure environment.”

Thanks to a partnership with Knife and Flag, Grove Properties and owner Austin Barzanthy, and 4 Hands Brewing, funds raised by the Good for The Grove initiative now go toward providing face masks, hand sanitizer, and thermometers, among other items for The Grove community improvement district merchants at no cost.

Since launching on March 18, Good for The Grove has raised more than $22,000, with a goal of reaching $25,000. The 100-percent tax-deductible donations are collected by neighborhood liaison Park Central Development, a 501(c)(3) community development corporation.
