Owsley County-Buffalo Area- Eastern KY Flood 2022
One of the most devastating floods in Kentucky’s history came suddenly in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 28, 2022, when torrential rainfall hit several areas of Eastern Kentucky, resulting in a record-high flood disaster. The deadly flood swept through while many were sleeping, with little warning and time to evacuate, resulting in flood waters sweeping away homes and roads and leaving areas destroyed. This record-high catastrophic flood has taken the lives of at least 37, and many are still missing and unaccounted for. Many flood victims escaped with only the clothes on their backs and nothing else. Many waded the waters, climbing the hillsides and clutching trees for safety while they witnessed the flood overtake their homes. Homes, personal belongings, animals, and vehicles have been lost due to this flood; however, many have lost everything and have to rebuild from nothing.
Partnership Housing, Inc. is a nonprofit 501c3 organization in Booneville, Owsley County, Kentucky, that provides safe, affordable housing to low to moderate-income families. PH wants to help the victims of the Owsley County/Buffalo area impacted by this flood. PH has partnered with a contractor willing to donate the labor needed to build two small replacement homes for those who lost them in the flood, but we need the funds to purchase the building materials. We're also seeking funds to repair homes that weren't a complete loss. We would appreciate your willingness to donate to the flood victims. No contribution is too small. Together we can provide two homes and hopefully assist others with repairs.
