Save Pauls Valley Hospital
Pauls Valley Hospital on the brink of closure
Pauls Valley Regional Medical Center (Formerly Pauls Valley General Hospital) is like so many rural health systems around the country in that it is close to ceasing operations. Rural hospitals are closing at alarming rates around the country with 650 just like Pauls Valley Regional Medical Center in 42 states at risk of closing this year. There are many reasons for the current crisis such as miss management, poor relationships with community physicians leading to low admission rates and a loss of focus on what rural hospitals were intended to be. Pauls Valley Regional Medical Center is a unique rural hospital in that it is located in a critical geographic location with large employer groups close by and a large Medicare population. If Pauls Valley Regional Medical Center closes the economic impact to the region will be devastating and the local community will have to drive 30-40 additional minutes for acute care. The city will lose large employers and community members who suffer a stroke, heart attack or injury could die before reaching critically required emergency care.
Pauls Valley Regional Medical Center (PVRMC) employs approximately 130 employees including doctors nurses, technicians, clerical staff, plant operations specialist, housekeeping professionals, dietary and administrative personnel. If the hospital does close all these individuals will have to travel away from the city in search of work which in turn reduces the tax base, revenue for the local businesses, and a loss of identity for the city and surrounding communities. But we can save PVRMC!
The new management company has a multifaceted plan that has already had a positive impact on the hospital's operations and revenue stream. There is already an improvement in relations with the community and the regional physicians and surgical volumes are up almost threefold. But we need your help. Together we can stem the tide of the needless closure of rural health care facilities by joining us to save PVRMC. Any donation can mean the difference between someone surviving an accident, heart attack or stroke! Any donation can mean the difference in the survival of the city itself. Please donate today to this worthy cause and help us save rural hospitals with this first one, take that first step and donate today, please!
