Pbj Watch Inc

Here in Shasta County we have one of the highest rates of homelessness in the country. Every day I see dozens of people on the street going hungry, suffering from chronic illness, and asking for help from their fellow human beings. In nursing school I see firsthand the devastating effects of malnutrition, and my own struggles with addiction and mental illness taught me “There, but for the grace of God, go I.”

So I decided to do something about it.

I began making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and passing them out, thirty at first… then fifty at a time… then seventy… then 100. I got help from friends and started calling it PBJ Watch (like Baywatch). The people always appreciated it, but I didn’t always have the time – I was busy with school and raising my family. So now I’m asking for your help to grow PBJ Watch into a movement.

PBJ Watch works because of two core principles: providing essential nutrition, and meeting people where they’re at. No matter their circumstances, every human being deserves access to a healthy meal. Together we can make hunger a thing of the past.
